Erik Bruvold, founding president of the National University System Institute for Policy Research: I might quibble with Murtaza’s use of a study where, in the course of a few months, the relative ranking of a city could change so much. Murders are, thankfully, so rare that changes year-over-year don’t really help illustrate long-term trends.
