Although San Diego enjoys a stellar reputation as visitor destination, the competition to attract new and repeat visitors is an ongoing challenge. This is especially intense for attracting both long-distance domestic and foreign travelers, as well as business visitors, who tend to spend more per capita per visit. Keeping San Diego top-of-mind is essential in the crowded field of travel options, especially considering our massive competition to the north. Los Angeles enjoys millions worth of “free media” from the entertainment industry, Leno, Academy awards, “Hollywood” sign, etc. San Diego needs to continue to carve out our unique position as an attractive destination.
