The NUSIPR said this number is similar to numbers of visitors in the past two years during this same weekend. The report also estimated consumer behavior trends for the upcoming weekend:
•1.1 million pounds of beef will be sold in San Diego County this week
•1.5 million hot dogs will be consumed over the holiday weekend
•More than 229,000 whole watermelons will be sold this week
The report continued to indicate that national consumer surveys identify Fourth of July as the most popular grilling holiday, followed by Memorial Day and Labor Day.
NUSIPR also said the San Diego Bay fireworks display brings in a great amount of economic benefits to the city, with the 2012 “Big Bay Boom” generating $10.6 million in total economic benefits for San Diego.
