There are multiple examples of misusing regulatory responsibilities by the CPUC. The agency’s widespread scandals result in significant losses of wealth, property and even lives of consumers. The primary reasons for the failures are too cozy relationships between CPUC officials and companies they oversee. Under direction of the governor’s office, the CPUC repeatedly fails to clean up or reform its actions. The only option appears to dismantle and reform it from the ground up.
