San Diego jobs consistently pay higher than the same jobs in other parts of the country, largely because the cost of living here--and cost of living in any of the state’s coastal areas--is higher than in other metropolitan areas, says Kelly Cunningham, an economist and senior fellow at the National University System Institute for Policy Research in La Jolla.
