Earlier this year, the San Diego-based National University System Institute for Policy Research said golf provides a $3.7 billion economic value to San Diego County and is responsible for 26,900 jobs.
Moreover, the report found golf in the county is relatively healthy despite the recession. Rounds played increased 0.7 percent in 2009 compared with 2008. In 2007, just as the recession began, rounds played increased 3.8 percent compared with the previous year.
