“On the one hand, it does look good that we are adding jobs year over year, but it’s a very slow pace,” said local economist Kelly Cunningham, a senior fellow at National University System Institute for Policy Research. “We lost over 100,000 jobs between 2008 and 2010, and since mid-2010 we’ve been adding jobs, but we’re only halfway to recovering those jobs.
“It doesn’t help very much to hear about that slow growth when you’re out pounding the pavement looking for a job.”
