When the Great Recession hit its depths in 2009, San Diego County’s economy dipped by 2.4 percent - the same as the national average for metro areas - but the decline would have been much steeper if not for the presence of the military, according to a report released today by the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis.
