Q: How many people actually earn minimum wage in San Diego?
A: It’s hard to say. It’s easier to put a number on low-wage workers. When you look at state data, it shows that there are 140,000 people working in food preparation and service-related occupations. That has an average wage of $11.73. An estimate from National University puts it at 200,000 people .
