Kelly Cunningham, National University System - YES: Sports Illustrated once named San Diego the sports and fitness capital of the U.S. They were referring to the sheer number of participants, the diversity of recreational pursuits, and intensity of involvement in sports and physical fitness. Outdoor recreation is evidently in San Diego’s DNA and a major reason many choose to live here. Perhaps instead of only passively watching sports entertainment, we are more interested in actively participating in athletics and other recreational undertakings.
