In San Diego, SeaWorld maintains a prominent position in the local tourism economy, with an estimated 33,500 San Diegans employed in the entertainment and amusement industry, local economist Kelly Cunningham said.
SeaWorld's more than 4.1 million visitors last year propelled it to fourth place in attendance among California amusement and theme parks, according to Themed Entertainment Association/Economics Research Associates.
According to a visitors study by the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, SeaWorld was one of the most popular attractions among overnight visitors, second only to the area's beaches.
