Vets back home face a tough job market

As those troops leave the service or are discharged due to ongoing military downsizing, many will likely return to their hometowns. But as in past wars, many will choose to stay in San Diego County, increasing the effect on the local economy, said Kelly Cunningham with National University’s Institute for Policy Research. Cunningham said returning troops initially would have a positive financial impact as they spend their combat pay. But come discharge time, it probably will be a different dynamic.
