Number of San Diego tech start-ups jumps 50% in first half of 2011

San Diego’s tech sector accounted for an estimated 139,400 jobs according to research by the National University System Institute for Policy Research (NUSIPR). Kelly Cunningham, Economist and Senior Fellow at the NUSIPR was quoted recently in the San Diego Business Journal saying, “Because of the multiplier effect, these higher paying [tech] jobs stimulate an additional 224,200 jobs, so together there are more than 363,000 jobs that can be traced to technology, or 29% of all payroll jobs in the county.”
